Wireless body area network (WBAN) is a communication system that supports medical or non-medical applications between on-body nodes. We have studied about millimeter-wave WBAN that is effective for inter-WBAN interference problem in a crowded condition. Body attenuation of a person between interfered and interfering users is very large at millimeter-wave band and enough to suppress an interference power. The interaction between portable electronic devices and the human body, and between the human body and electronic devices is also an issue, so measurements using a human body phantom that can be fabricated by simulating dielectric constant and electrical conductivity are required. In this study, a bioequivalent phantom for the millimeter wave band is fabricated by referring to the fabrication materials and mass of a human body phantom for the low frequency band (1.8 GHz). The reflected received power at 25 to 35 GHz is then measured at antenna angles of 30 degree and 45 degree to compare with measurements on a real human arm. |
