Low Power ΔΣ Modulator With Low Voltage OTA for Wearable Application

(in English) Wearable devices that monitor biological signals are powered by batteries. Therefore, the ΔΣ modulator (DSM) in these devices must have low power consumption. Since biological signals are low-frequency signals, an OTA with a low transconductance Gm is necessary for the Gm-C integrator in the modulator. Therefore, an OTA with a low Gm was proposed, but it consumes a lot of power because it uses two amplifiers. One of the ways to reduce the power consumption of the OTA is to drive it with a low supply voltage. However, the operation of the proposed OTA at low supply voltages leads to a decrease in the input voltage range. In order to solve this problem, we propose a OTA with improved voltage range even under low supply voltage by bulk input. We also propose a low-power consumption DSM that can be operated under low voltage power supplies by using the proposed OTA.
