In quantum chemistry, it is extremely important to accurately determine the ground and excited state energies of the Hamiltonian. Many methods have been proposed to estimate the energy gap between the ground and excited states. The conventional approach is to use phase estimation algorithm. Recently, a novel method that can directly estimate the energy gap without using controlled time evolution has been proposed, which is characterized by the combination of quantum annealing and Ramsey-type measurement. However, the method using Ramsey-type measurement can only determine the energy gap. Therefore, the ground energy itself cannot be obtained. We propose a method to obtain the ground energy without using the controlled time evolution by utilizing symmetry of the Hamiltonian. A major advantage of our method is robust against nonadiabatic transitions during quantum annealing. |
