In order to meet the various demands of wireless communication systems of the Beyond 5G/6G era, the Wireless Smart Utility Network (Wi-SUN) is attracting attention as a wireless communication standard for Internet of Things (IoT). Currently, Wi-SUN mainly operates in the Sub 1 GHz band as the SUN FSK. The introduction of the VHF band is being considered for larger wide-area mobile communication. However, for SUN FSK in the VHF band, experimental evaluation platform with commercial wireless Integrated Circuits (IC) have not yet been evaluated. In this study, we developed an experimental evaluation platform using commercial wireless IC and Software-defined Radio Receiver. It has been shown that it is possible to achieve wide-area mobile communication of a commercial wireless IC with a transmission distance of 10 km or more (for a fading environment of urban and rural area) and a vehicular speed of 80 km/h (for a fading environment of urban area) can be achieved by MRC, even in the absence of FEC encoding. |
