Evaluating the Repeatability of Window Wiping Type e-sports System for Care Prevention

(in English) In recent years, Japan's population has been aging, and care prevention is becoming increasingly important to prevent the elderly from requiring nursing care. Therefore, we are developing an e-sports game featuring simulated window-wiping behavior for care prevention. Aiming to solve the problem of low repeatability, an issue with conventional care prevention systems, we incorporated everyday movements as the subject matter, implemented a score display function, and incorporated a design that accurately measures the shoulder joint range of motion during development. The results of experiments conducted in this study aimed to verify the usefulness of these functions. The results confirmed that by incorporating window wiping, a daily activity, participants could easily understand the rules of the game and that the score display function increased communication among the elderly during the game. In addition, for a more accurate estimation of the degree of recovery, the system was equipped with a mechanism that can naturally induce large movements, such as extending the arm beyond the normal range of motion, and the results were in line with the objective. These results suggest that the system is effective in solving the problem of low repeatability of conventional care prevention systems.
