We propose a concept for dense formation flying of multiple PicoSats (ultra-small satellites), each equipped with antenna array elements. This formation flying would function as a large-aperture, high-gain phased array antenna. If implemented successfully, the configuration could enable direct connection between mobile devices, such as smartphones, and satellites, providing high-bandwidth connectivity to multiple terminals. This paper outlines the necessary technologies, performance criteria, and key technical challenges involved in realizing this system. |
