A New Coupling Configuration of Reflectionless Bandpass Filters and Its Microstrip Filter Design

(in English) In recent years, there has been active researches on reflectionless bandpass filters (BPFs) that can absorb reflected signals for all frequencies within the filter circuit. A variety of circuit configurations have been proposed so far, such as BPFs combined with bandstop filters, power dividers, and so on. However, these configurations have a serious problem that a minimum return loss level is about 10 dB. In this paper, we propose a novel coupling configuration that can obtain the return loss than 60 dB for all frequencies and present a microstrip reflectionless BPF structure based on it. The effectiveness of the proposed reflectionless BPF is demonstrated through two design examples. The first design example is a fourth-order reflectionless BPF with a center frequency 2 GHz, while the second one is an eighth-order reflectionless BPF having two transmission zeros placed near the center frequency. The validity of the proposed coupling configuration and its microstrip reflectionless BPF structure is verified by the comparison between the EM-simulated and measured results.
