As a theoretical model for describing user dynamics in online environments, the oscillation model is proposed as a framework that starts from the unquestionable first principles of locality and causality, considering the conclusions that can be logically derived from them.
In this model, a fundamental equation is introduced that explicitly expresses the causal effects of structural changes in social networks on user dynamics.
In general, user dynamics should exhibit a damping effect that diminishes in intensity over time.
However, since the fundamental equation is a wave equation represented by first-order differential equations, it is not possible to incorporate a damping term, as is done in the usual second-order differential wave equations.
Therefore, finding a way to integrate damping effects into the model of the fundamental equation has been a challenge.
In this paper, we experimentally demonstrate that the structure of a social network produces a low-pass filter effect, and we illustrate the potential to naturally incorporate the damping effect into the fundamental equation. |
