End-to-end QoS Estimation Method with Airtime and Traffic Characteristics

(in English) With the recent spread and sophistication of wireless systems, wireless use cases and their requirements have become more diverse. Various studies have been conducted on technologies that use new technologies such as multi-link operation and multi-AP depending on the usage environment and requirements.
In order to control wireless systems, it is necessary to estimate the quality of each wireless access, but the estimation requires correction and prediction based on traffic characteristics, etc. This paper presents a method for estimating wireless communication link quality using application traffic occurrence information. The proposed method roughly classifies wireless links into saturated and non-saturated states based on airtime, and estimates throughput and delay. In particular, in saturated states where the effects of collisions are significant, it is shown that it is necessary to correct the estimated quality due to differences in traffic and packet patterns. In a system-level evaluation using ns-3, it was confirmed that the proposed method can estimate throughput with a relative error of about 0.5% and delay with an estimation error of less than 10 milliseconds.
