In human sensing radar testing, it is inherently difficult to compare different radar devices under the same conditions due to the unreproducibility of human biological activity. This is the rate-limiting factor for research and development and practical application of human sensing radars. Inspired by the idea of reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS), which can control the propagation characteristics of radio waves using a passive and simple hardware configuration, we have proposed a reconfigurable electronic phantom (RePH) that can reproduce radar channels corresponding to arbitrary targets using RIS. In this paper, we propose a method for more accurately predicting and reconstructing radar channels by using a RePH composed of a variable load circuit that can independently control both the amplitude and phase of the reflection coefficient, and based on the in-situ estimation method of the channel and S-parameter information for the RePH. We also report the results of experiments in which we successfully reconstructed the time-varying radar channels of dynamic targets with high accuracy using the proposed method. |
