Performance Evaluation of MANET Protocol for Disaster Rescue Communication Considering Remaining Terminal Battery Life

(in English) In general, communications using a mobile ad hoc network (MANET) assume that the IP address of the destination terminal is known. However, in emergency situations such as disasters, the IP address of the destination terminal may not always be known. Additionally, the mobile terminals that form a MANET are assumed to operate on battery power and consume their batteries by relaying data destined for other terminals and so on. This paper focuses on disaster rescue scenarios and proposes improving Power Aware Routing-AODV-SOS, an improved version of the routing protocol AODV-SOS that enables communication even when the IP address of a terminal owned by a disaster victim is unknown, by considering the distribution of terminal battery levels. The results of its performance evaluation are also presented.
