Randomness Analysis in Cryptographic Key Mixing Using Digital Signal Processing

(in English) One of the critical elements of physical security in optical communication is the randomness of cryptographic keys. To ensure the confidentiality of cryptographic keys, it is necessary to maintain appropriate randomness even during the key transformation process performed by optical transceivers. In this study, we evaluated the randomness of cryptographic key mixing, based on digital signal processing using impulse responses and the Kronecker product of Jones matrices, through the NIST randomness tests (SP 800-22 Rev. 1a). The results of these tests revealed that the randomness during cryptographic key mixing heavily depends on the selection of parameters used in the transformation process.
