Simplified temperature sensing method near reflection point in optical fiber using randomly modulated light source

(in English) We proposed and experimentally demonstrate a temperature sensing technique near the reflection point in an optical fiber using a simplified low-coherence Brillouin optical correlation-domain reflectometry. By employing a randomly modulated light source, our method can be implemented in a relatively straightforward system at a low cost without any special processing in the fiber. This will make it highly beneficial for detecting anomalies at branching points in existing fiber networks. In this study, the operation of this temperature measurement technique is demonstrated by showing that Brillouin scattering signals generated on both the proximal and distal fiber sections of the reflection point contribute to the operation, allowing for the selective measurement of temperature near the reflection point.
