A Study on Accuracy of Current Calculation of Motor Drive Cable Model with Discontinuities Using Transmission Line Theory

(in English) The calculation of magnetic field noise generated by motor drive systems requires the accurate current flowing on cables. In this study, a modelling method based on transmission line theory was applied to determine the current on a Lecher line with varied height between two wires at 30 MHz. Firstly, the finite element method was used to evaluate the bending effect of the line on the current. It was found that the modelling of the bend is not necessary because the change in current is less than 3.3% within the bend angle of 90 degrees. The transmission line model neglecting the vertical sections between two Lecher lines with different heights resulted in errors of up to -94% for the heights up to 3.0 m. Furthermore, the reduced error of -37% was obtained for up to 2.0 m by using inductors for the vertical sections.
