[Tutorial Lecture] Radio Propagation Analysis Method Using Quantum Annealers

(in English) Radio wave propagation analysis with ray-tracing is based on searching for radio propagation paths between Tx and Rx. Here, to improve the analysis accuracy, it is necessary to search for multiple paths that contribute to the propagation characteristics, but the amount of calculation increases exponentially as the number of structures to be considered and the number of interactions with structures increase. On the other hand, at present, attention is focused on quantum annealing (QA) computer that enable ultra-high-speed operations for combinatorial optimization problems. However, it is essential that the problem is formulated into QUBO (Quantum Unconstrained Binary Optimization) model. Therefore, we have proposed QUBO models for finding propagation paths with multi-scattering. This paper describes radio propagation analysis method based on our proposed QUBO model, and clarifies the performance of the proposed method in actual environment using our developed radio propagation analysis tool.
