It is important to routinely perform aspiration prevention training to prevent aspiration disorders such as aspiration pneumonia, and we have developed a laryngeal motion measurement method using an RGB-D camera. In this paper, we propose a method to measure laryngeal motion in each anatomically meaningful region by compensating for body and neck movements from the camera video. The method is used to evaluate laryngeal movements during a water-drinking test before and after training using the YUBA method of anti-aspiration throat exercises with singing and vocalization. The training tended to smooth the movements of the muscles related to swallowing, especially in the area containing the pharyngeal contractile muscles, and improved swallowing time and laryngeal elevation speed. |
