(in English) In 5G NR beam management, frequent reference signals and beam reporting achieve beam switching that adapts to user mobility and its communication environments. However, the overhead of frequent beam reporting affects system performance. This issue is particularly prominent in the millimeter-wave band, where there is a trade-off between the accuracy of beamforming required to compensate for large propagation loss and the overhead associated with beam reporting. To mitigate this problem, an UE-initiated beam management has been studied in 3GPP Rel-19, allowing part of the beam management operation to be user initiated, which is expected to reduce unnecessary beam reporting and signaling. This paper evaluates the performance of uplink and downlink considering the signaling overhead reduction effects of the UE-initiated beam management in the millimeter-wave band, and clarifies throughput improvements.
