Toward A Multi-Bandpass Parallel Spiking Circuit Employing Resonate-and-Fire Neuron Devices

(in English) Bats’ echolocation is known to utilize two key mechanisms: the parallel bandpass filter characteristics of the cochlear physical structure and the electrical resonance characteristics derived from nonlinear membrane conductance in the hair cells. This research focuses on hardware implementation of echolocation functionality, specifically proposing an approach to construct spike timing codes based on the latter resonance characteristics. Our approach employs a CMOS circuit device implementing a resonate-and-fire (RFN) neuron model. We investigated the feasibility of implementing our approach to realize a multi-bandpass parallel spiking circuit through parameter tuning of CMOS circuits using numerical simulations.
