To elucidate the information processing mechanisms of cultured neural circuits, reservoir computing (RC) incorporating these circuits has been proposed, utilizing exponential filters in the readout process. However, previous studies have not thoroughly investigated the impact of time constant values in these exponential filters. Optimizing the time constants is therefore anticipated to enhance the computational performance of RC. In this study, we examine how the time constants of a double exponential filter influence the computational performance of RC, using a cultured neuron model. Specifically, we assess the accuracy of a speech recognition task by varying the rise and decay time constants of the double exponential filter in RC. Our findings demonstrate that selecting appropriate values for these time constants significantly improves the computational performance of RC. This study contributes to advancing the computational capabilities of RC systems leveraging cultured neuron models. |
