Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Backscatter communication is an ultra-low-power communication method in which a passive backscatter device (BD) receives a signal transmitted from a communication device (Node A), and reflects or absorbs the signal, allowing Node A to detect the signal from the BD. However, as in in-band full-duplex (IBFD) communications, SI cancellation is essential. In the previous study, it was demonstrated that a differential active SI canceller (DASIC) is effective for SI cancellation even in backscatter communications. However, the challenge remained that signal detection becomes difficult when the propagation time of the desired signal is unknown. Furthermore, DASIC faces the problem of residual SI when there is a delayed path of SI reflected within Node A's enclosure, resulting in insufficient SI cancellation. To address these challenges, this study adopts a maximum a-posteriori probability (MAP) detector, which enables signal detection even when the propagation time of the desired signal is unknown. In addition, we propose a novel method to perform DASIC in the analog domain and use small differential delay time to suppress residual SI. The efficacy of the proposed method is confirmed through computer simulations in terms of bit error rate (BER) performance.
