As the Noto Peninsula earthquake that occurred in January 2024 shows, Japan is susceptible to damage from earthquakes. In the event of a disaster, base stations may stop functioning due to factors such as power outages and base station damage. When this happens, a means of deploying a temporary network is needed to transmit information and confirm safety in the affected areas. In this paper, we examine the use of mm-wave UAV base stations to provide a wireless communication infrastructure. However, in a city with a cluster of conceptual buildings, there is a high possibility that the UAV will not have a line of sight to the user equipment. Therefore, we propose a method to extend the coverage by creating a new propagation path using IRS and finding the optimal UAV placement using a 3D model of the city. |
