Multi-hop communications utilizing multi-antenna beamforming based on IRDT protocol

(in English) This paper investigates the design of beamforming by a concentrator in multi-hop communications, specifically under the intermittent receiver-driven data transmission (IRDT) protocol, to enhance the packet delivery rates of sensor nodes (SNs). Typically, a narrower beamwidth of the main lobe increases the array gain, enabling the concentrator to communicate directly with more distant SNs. This reduces the average number of multi-hops required, thereby decreasing the data packets held by relay SNs in multi-hop communication. As a result, the risk of transmission failures due to collisions is minimized, allowing the concentrator to collect data packets more efficiently. Through computer simulations, we demonstrate that beams with narrower main lobe widths improve the packet delivery ratio across the entire communication area.
