This research and development was conducted as part of Forward, a four-year project funded by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), and we report on the results of the research conducted this year. This project focuses on "Cooperative Automated Driving" and conducts research and development of mobility networks that provide stable, high-capacity communications for such vehicles. In particular, the mobility network to be realized in this R&D is envisioned as a vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication infrastructure for Connected Autonomous Vehicle (CAV), in which different transportation systems can cooperatively perform cognitive, decision-making, and execution tasks. In this research and development, we propose a self-sufficient mobility network in which discrete roadside units are equipped with base station antennas and multiple roadside units cooperate. The goal is to achieve a mobility system that can reduce blockage probability by more than 80%, ensure more than 80% maximum gain in a dynamically moving traffic system environment, and improve frequency utilization efficiency by a factor of four. This will contribute to an intelligent mobility society by developing fully cooperative automated driving technology. |
