An electric sliding contact mechanism is a mechanism that conducts electric current from a stationary object to a moving object (rotating object) using brushes and slip rings. It is considered essential for the transfer of electric power from a brush, which is a stationary object, to a slip ring, which is a moving object. In this study, the contact voltage drop, brush wear, and friction coefficient were measured using silver graphite brushes synthesized with molybdenum disulfide, a solid lubricant, in order to clarify the sliding current-carrying characteristics. The experimental results are as follows. The contact voltage drop increased as the molybdenum disulfide content increased. As for the brush wear and friction coefficient, the friction coefficient became smaller and the brush wear decreased as the molybdenum disulfide content increased for the silver content of 70wt% and 90wt%. However, for the silver content of 50wt%, as the molybdenum disulfide content increased, the friction coefficient increased and the amount of brush wear increased. |
