(in English) A spline function is a smooth piecewise polynomial and used for data interpolation and smoothing. Nonnegative spline smoothing is also studied, and previous research used a sufficient condition for the nonnegativity to find the optimal solution. However, the optimal value may be slightly degraded due to the limited feasible solutions. In this study, we use convex semi-infinite programming (CSIP), that can handle an infinite number of inequality constraints, to solve 1D nonnegative spline smoothing without the sufficient condition. Numerical experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
