[Poster Presentation] Decentralized Independent Vector Analysis Based on Majorization-Minimization Algorithm for Distributed Microphone Arrays

(in English) Blind source separation (BSS) is a technique for separating source signals from observed mixtures without any prior information. A distributed microphone array is a framework that enables acoustic signal processing over a wide area by spatially distributed microphones. A common approach to BSS in distributed microphone arrays is centralized methods, which aggregate all observed signals and treat them as a large-scale microphone array. In this paper, we propose a novel BSS method in a decentralized manner. First, we apply a conventional method called decentralized independent vector analysis, originally proposed for image signals, to acoustic signals. We then improve this method, which is derived on the basis of the natural gradient method, by employing the majorization-minimization algorithm. This leads to faster and more stable update rules for decentralized independent vector analysis without requiring parameter adjustment such as step size. The proposed algorithm shares only information that cannot reconstruct the original observed signals, reducing the risk of privacy infringement while lowering computational costs and effectively leveraging spatial information captured by the distributed microphone array. We confirmed that the proposed method achieves superior source separation performance compared to existing methods through the numerical experiment.
