We are conducting research into ultra-wide area sensing platforms using low-orbit satellite MIMO technology and balloons. For atmospheric and oceanic observations, we are considering a configuration in which observation data will be acquired using wireless communication in the 920 MHz band, but we are also considering receiving commands at an ocean buoy using a 12 GHz band satellite downlink signal. A beam pattern of a patch antenna on a flat substrate is suitable for covering a wide area of the sky, but patch antennas have the issue of having a narrow frequency band. Here we report the results of an investigation into the effect of seawater on patch antennas using an electromagnetic field simulator using the FEM method. |
