Various scientific studies are conducted using balloons that operate in the stratosphere, and there is a growing demand for onboard equipment to be compact and lightweight. In this context, we developed a temperature and vacuum test system to assess the suitability of small pressure sensors designed for smartphones for use in stratospheric conditions. The experiment involved placing five Arduino Uno R4 WiFi boards and six pressure sensors inside a vacuum desiccator and thermostatic chamber to enable simultaneous measurements. Measurement data were transmitted to a PC via 2.4 GHz WiFi. In this paper, we describe the system configuration and present the results of measurements taken with the pressure sensors at temperatures ranging from -40°C to 40°C and pressures between approximately 4 hPa and 1000 hPa. |
