Construction of Common Unfolding Using the Fixed Point Propagation Method

(in English) An unfolding of a polyhedron is a polygon obtained by cutting and unfolding its surface onto a plane. A common unfolding is a polygon that serves as an unfolding for two different polyhedra. The existence of common unfoldings between distinct Platonic solids remains an open problem. This study introduces a method using the fixed point propagation method to construct a common unfolding between a regular octahedron and a regular tetrahedron. The results confirm that by allowing a small margin of error, the procedure terminates, yielding a common unfolding between the octahedron and a nearly regular tetrahedron.
