Optimization of Wormhole Attack Detection in Ad-hoc Networks Using Location Information and Surrounding Nodes

(in English) Wormhole (WH) attacks are a major threat in ad hoc networks. Existing detection methods for these attacks use information from surrounding nodes. However, this method has the problem of increasing network load because it broadcasts detection messages. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a WH attack detection method that efficiently reduces detection messages by utilizing the location information of nodes on candidate routes and information from surrounding nodes. Furthermore, using node location information for WH detection, the proposed method detects attacks more accurately than existing methods. Using a network simulator, we evaluated the detection rate of WH attacks, the false detection rate of normal communication links, and the change in overhead associated with detection.
