Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In order to realize a highly immersive VR experience in the supine position, it is necessary to present the sensation of standing while in the supine position.
In this study, we propose a bed-based VR system that synchronizes with VR images that mimic the transition from a supine to a standing position, and presents rotational skin stretch stimuli on the back of the body and pressure stimuli on the soles of the feet to reproduce postural changes visually and tactilely and induce the illusion of posture.
As the first step of this study, we focused on the transition from the supine to the seated position, and investigated the effects on the sitting posture illusion and somatization sensation using this system.
As a result, the evaluation of the sitting illusion and embodied sensation were significantly improved by the presentation of rotational skin stretch stimuli to the back of the body.
This paper also reports on the concept of Experiment 2, which focuses on the transition from the supine to the standing position, which is currently under investigation.
Specifically, in addition to Experiment 1, we will investigate the system and issues of an experiment to reproduce visuo-haptic standing movements from a sitting position to a standing position, and to investigate the effects on the illusion of standing and the sense of embodiment of the avatar in the VR.
