Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In recent years, Large Language Models (LLMs) have advanced significantly, leading to the emergence of multimodal LLMs capable of processing inputs such as images and audio. Previous research has shown that providing both text and images to multimodal LLMs improves the performance of automatic code generation. Additionally, in software development, diagrams such as flowcharts are often created for purposes such as code comprehension. While studies have explored the impact of images on LLMs and the use of diagrams in development environments, the effect of flowchart images on the performance of multimodal LLMs remains insufficiently investigated. In this study, we generated flowchart images from example solution codes for AtCoder problems and provided them to GPT-4o along with the problem statements to examine the impact of flowchart images. The results showed that incorporating flowchart images alongside problem statements improved performance by up to 19.1%. Furthermore, when providing abstracted flowcharts, a trend was observed where performance improved as the level of detail in the flowcharts decreased.
