We have found that relatively long time measurements using millimeter-wave band frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) have resulted in long-lasting estimation errors in some subjects due to the effects of bursty disturbances. Therefore, we reduced the effect of such bursty outliers from the original heart rate by replacing them with a moving average of the mode of the historical data, and found that the root-mean-square error (RMSE) of the heart rate estimation results for the five subjects improved significantly, from approximately 3.2 to 8.1 bpm. However, one subject who had a high frequency of outliers did not show significant improvement in accuracy compared to the other subjects. In this study, we compared the previous method with the proposed method of selecting the mode of the past data by referring to the distribution of estimated heartbeats and replacing the mode with a moving average of the mode. The results showed that subjects who did not show any improvement in the previous study showed a maximum improvement of 3.09 bpm when data from the previous 3 minutes were used. |
