[Special Invited Talk] Research and Development towards Satellite Communication Networks in 2030

(in English) As a global wide-are high-speed communications service, low-earth-orbit-satellite-constellation network (LEON) and multi-layered space-ground-integrated network have been actively studied in the recent years. We are working on research and development of a LEON system, aiming to realize it around 2030. In this presentation, we will show an overview of our LEON system, and discuss research topics related to the network, transport, and data links for the system. Our system is going to achieve high-speed, large-capacity inter-satellite communications using free-space optical communications, and will utilize software-defined networking technology to handle various functional requirements as the core of the space-ground-integrated network. In addition, as communication connections in LEON change due to satellite movement, we will implement network control technologies that can accommodate this. Through these efforts, we will establish communication infrastructure technology that improves the quality and the flexibility, and respond to the growing demand for communications in the Beyond-5G era.
