We propose a scheduling technique to avoid deadlocks, which is a problem when planning routes for multiple transport robots in a warehouse. Assuming a grid-based managed warehouse area, we consider a system where robots reserve the grid they want to move to in advance, and if the reservation fails, they stop and wait to avoid collisions. In such cases, single-agent path planning is prone to deadlocks, leading to a decrease in transportation capacity. On the other hand, multi-agent path planning, which can achieve optimal solutions, has the challenge of high computational cost. Therefore, we define critical grids that contribute to the occurrence of deadlocks as nonstop areas. By dynamically extending the reservation range so that robots do not stop or wait within these areas, we demonstrate that the incidence of deadlocks can be significantly reduced. |
