Our research group proposes a string compression method using a tree-structured dictionary to reduce the size of strings transmitted and received during command-response-based device operations.
In this report, we evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method for network device operation logs. We conducted performance evaluations using actual log files to assess its practical utility.
As a result, in scenarios where large-scale logs were compressed in bulk, we consistently achieved a compression ratio of 5% or less. Furthermore, in scenarios where logs were compressed sequentially line by line, our method significantly outperformed existing methods, particularly for log files with a per-line data size of less than 200 KB. |
