[Poster Presentation] Reduction of Computational Load by Separately Estimating Angle and Angular Velocity for High-Speed Radar Targets

(in English) With the recent increase in the speed of radar targets, the impact of angle estimation errors caused by target speed has become significant, and the need for angular velocity estimation has increased. The conventional method of simultaneously estimating angular velocity and angle based on maximum likelihood estimation involves calculating the evaluation function value for all combinations of angular velocity and angle, resulting in a computational scale more than 10,000 times larger than that of the monopulse angle measurement method, which posed significant implementation challenges. In this study, we proposed a method for sequentially estimating angular velocity and angle by adding preprocessing to the received signal and reducing the dimensionality of the observation signal vector so as not to affect each estimated parameter. Through simulation evaluation, we confirmed that we were able to achieve a significant reduction in computational scale of several to ten times compared to the monopulse angle measurement method, while causing almost no deterioration in performance.
