Development of Microstrip Antenna for Feeder of Microsatellite onboard Full Polarimetric L Band CP-SAR

(in English) Recently, various synthetic aperture radar (SAR) onboard microsatellites have been developed and launched, but almost all work in single polarization. On the other hand, the demand for full polarimetric SAR images increases nowadays. For this purpose, we develop a full polarimetric circularly polarized SAR (CP-SAR) onboard microsatellite. Hence, this research develops a dual-polarized L-band microstrip antenna to feed for full polarimetric CP-SAR onboard microsatellites. The design incorporates a hybrid coupler and a ground isolation structure to enhance directivity and polarization purity. The antenna provides both left-handed circular polarization (LHCP) and right-handed circular polarization (RHCP), which helps to ensure high image data quality in SAR signal processing. Experimental results confirmed that the antenna achieves an impedance bandwidth of 36.9% at the center frequency of 1.275 GHz, demonstrating wideband performance suitable for satellite platforms.
