Internet of Things (IoT), which connects all kinds of objects to the Internet and facilitates the exchange of information is rapidly developing. This promotes the aggregation of data from objects and the automated use of objects, thereby creating new added value. Wi-SUN FAN (Wireless Smart Utility Network Field Area Network), an international standard for wireless communication systems for IoT systems, is suitable for outdoor data collection and device control in IoT systems, as it enables the autonomous construction of wide-area networks. However, since the technical specifications adopted by Wi-SUN FAN are designed based on independently standardized technologies, there are several corner cases where the combination of these specifications deteriorates the transmission characteristics, and the technical specifications need to be reviewed in order to maintain a stable network. This paper addresses the problems of “data interruptions” and “data collisions” caused by combinations of technical specifications used in the data link layer and analyses the causes of these problems. It then proposes a new method to solve the two problems and shows the validity of the proposed method by computer simulation. |
