[Poster Presentation] Improving Speaker Similarity in Speech Synthesis for Glossectomy Patients Using a Parallel Corpus of Healthy and Dysarthric Speech from Non-Target Speakers

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this report, we investigate speech synthesis for glossectomy patients using less than one minute of disordered speech from the target speaker. The proposed method performs speaker adaptation using not only the target speaker's disordered speech but also a parallel corpus of healthy and disordered speech from non-target speakers. This approach enables the synthesis of speech with high clarity and speaker similarity, even when only a small amount of disordered speech from the target speaker is available. Furthermore, we examine how the utilization of the parallel corpus contributes to the improvement of speaker similarity and phonetic clarity in the synthesized speech. We evaluate the effect of using the parallel corpus on speaker similarity and phonetic clarity of synthesized speech, considering the diversity of speech content and speakers. The evaluation shows that the proposed method improves both the speaker similarity MOS and character error rate (CER) of the synthesized speech, compared to the conventional method. In addition, the visualization results of the distribution of speaker embeddings show that the speaker encoders learned by the proposed method bring the speaker features of healthy and disordered speech closer together.
