This study focuses on wireless power transfer (WPT) between flexible coils that can be embedded in smart clothing capable of sensing, haptic feedback, etc. For example, we can consider a WPT system consisting of a belt with a built-in battery and a transmitter, as well as a shirt with a receiver. For practical purposes, the efficiency of power transfer should be less dependent on the distance between the transmitter and receiver. To reduce the distance dependency of the efficiency, parity-time (PT) symmetric WPT (PTS-WPT) has been proposed. In PTS-WPT systems, the critical coupling coefficient, which is the boundary between the broken and unbroken phases, is an essential design parameter. This report shows that the optimal loaded quality factor (loaded Q) is determined to maximize an evaluation function designed to represent the balance between the critical coupling coefficient and the efficiency achieved in the unbroken phase. Based on this result, the component values in the WPT system can be determined to satisfy the given condition between the efficiency and the acceptable coil distance. |
