| (in English) | To realize ultra-high-capacity communications required for Beyond 5G and 6G, we propose a virtualized terminal that enables relay transmission by combining terahertz and millimeter waves. The virtualized terminal consists of a user device, analogous to a smartphone, and a relay device, corresponding to a wearable device. In this approach, the antenna functionality of the user device is transferred to surrounding wireless devices such as wearables, thereby virtually equipping the terminal with a large number of antennas. This configuration allows for an increase in the number of antennas beyond the physical limitations of a single device, thereby enhancing the spatial multiplexing capability of MIMO and aiming for transmission rates on the order of 100 Gbps. Furthermore, as high-capacity wireless connections are also required between the relay devices (with antenna functionality) and the user terminal, the terahertz band, which offers ultra-wide bandwidth, is employed. In particular, we consider connections utilizing the 252–296 GHz terahertz band allocated to land mobile radio by ITU-R. In this paper, we report on the results of demonstration experiments of ultra-high-capacity transmission using a prototyped user terminal and relay device, each comprising a terahertz-band antenna, terahertz-band RF module, and ultra-wideband baseband equipment. | |
