The KJ-Ho (KJ Method), used for analyzing qualitative data, is a problem-solving technique closely related to Charles Peirce's concept of abduction. It aims to generate plausible new hypotheses from non-quantifiable data. However, the method involves nonlinear, iterative processes that are time-consuming and often influenced by the subjectivity of the practitioner due to its emphasis on intuitive thinking. This presentation introduces an AI-augmented version of the KJ-Ho, named KJ-GPT, designed to address these limitations. We demonstrate a prototype application and discuss its potential to enhance both objectivity (via explainability) and efficiency, exploring the AI-enabled abductive reasoning. |
