In recent years, there has been a growing emphasis on providing appropriate educational support for children who do not exhibit intellectual developmental disorders but require special education. To support opinion formation during inquiry-based learning that requires complex thinking, we reconfigured the peer assistance system, “AI-Friend,” which makes use of generative AI. AI-Friend incorporates a local LLM that has been fine-tuned with training data reflecting each student’s unique characteristics. Therefore, it generates responses tailored to individual students. AI-Friend was implemented experimentally in class. As a result, AI-Friend was able to generate well-organized and personalized texts by incorporating training data into its dialogue history, tailored to each student’s interests. In addition, we found that AI-Friend’s personalized dialogue can help deepen engagement in learning activities. In the future, we plan to make further improvements to reduce hallucinations generated by the local LLM. |
