Making of a Constant-Speed Contact Separating Apparatus and Experimental Study on Break Arcs

(in English) An experimental system is made to generate break arcs in the voltage and current range of 600 VDC / 100 A. A device for separating electrical contacts at a constant speed and a system for controlling the generation and measurement of the break arcs are constructed. The device include measures to ensure insulation and deal with generated magnetic fields. For testing the system, break arcs are generated using a 100 VDC / 10 A power supply at separating speeds of 1.0 m/s, 0.8 m/s, and 0.5 m/s, and measurement results are reported.
