Study on Resonant Wireless Power Transmission using Ultra-small Two-wire Coil Antenna -- Application to In-motion Charging for Electric Vehicles --

(in English) This study proposes a resonant wireless power transmission (WPT) system using an ultra-small two-wire spiral coil antenna, whose physical size is approximately 1/3000 of the resonant wavelength. The proposed antenna operates at a high-frequency resonance and enables highly efficient wireless power delivery compared to conventional electromagnetic induction methods. First, a one-to-one transmission experiment using a 3 cm diameter coil demonstrated a high power transfer efficiency of −0.7 dB (approximately 85%). Furthermore, by connecting multiple units in series on the road surface, a dynamic WPT (DWPT) system was constructed to allow electric vehicles (EVs) to receive power while driving. Using a 1/20-scale EV model, experimental validation was conducted with a series of resonant coils operating at approximately 80 kHz. The EV was successfully driven without a battery, powered solely by the transmitted energy. These results indicate that the proposed resonant method is a promising solution for DWPT applications.
