Deep joint source-channel coding (DeepJSCC), which unifies source and channel coding through deep learning, has recently gained considerable attention. For image transmission, DeepJSCC typically uses an autoencoder based on a convolutional neural network (CNN). However, the computational cost of such architectures may be prohibitive depending on the user's equipment. To address this issue, we have proposed an FFT-based DeepJSCC scheme, in which the convolutional layers of the CNN are replaced by fast Fourier transform (FFT) and element-wise product operations to reduce the computational cost. This paper presents experimental results demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed method using a commercially available local 5G system that has been modified for our testing. |
