In mountainous and hilly regions, earthquakes often trigger slope failures and landslides that sever roads and communication lines, increasing the risk of community isolation. Particularly in the aftermath of seismic events, the progressive destabilization of slopes poses a serious threat of secondary disasters. To detect early warning signs and support timely evacuation decisions, the deployment of slope monitoring technologies is essential. This talk introduces practical case studies of slope monitoring conducted in rural mountainous areas using real-time sensing technologies, IoT-based sensors, and UAVs (drones). It also discusses the challenges encountered in the field and explores how to bridge the gap between advanced monitoring technologies and on-site disaster response systems. |
