Proposal and Evaluation of Data Distribution Methods in Distributed Line Graphs

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The Distributed Line Graph (DLG), proposed by Zhang and Liu, is expected to be used as a basis for a new Distributed Hash Table (DHT) in P2P networks. DLG treats nodes as sequences of symbols, and the nodes (sequences) have a property that the identical symbol is not consecutive.
Therefore, deciding where to store the data (emph{i.e.} the destination node of the data),
it is necessary to generate a sequence (data IDs) for each data so that consecutive symbols do not appear. However, the existing method is a simple conversion algorithm that guarantees only non-contiguity of the identical symbol, and therefore, the generated data IDs are similar (in the sense of frequently containing the same subsequences), resulting in a bias toward destination nodes.

In this study, we propose an algorithm to generate data IDs to avoid a sequence of identical symbols and to reduce bias in the destination node. Specifically, we define the shift operation to obtain a symbol $s_{new}$ that is different from successive identical symbols $s$. Specifically, we define a shift operation to obtain a symbol $s_{new}$ that is different from $s$. The $s_{new}$ obtained by the shift operation is inserted or replaced to avoid a sequence of identical symbols. Through simulation experiments,
we evaluate the standard deviation and the range of $n_{bm{v}}$, where $n_{bm{v}}$ counts the number that node $bm v$ is assigned as a destination node,
and compare the results with previous studies to show their usefulness.
