This study proposes a propagation loss estimation model based on Transformer architecture, utilizing structural information derived from virtual urban environments represented by 3D point cloud data. The virtual urban spaces are procedurally generated to emulate various urban layouts, including dense commercial areas, grid-based city blocks, and regional cities, with building heights and material properties reflected in the point cloud representation. In these virtual environments, transmitter and receiver locations are randomly assigned, and corresponding path loss values are computed using ray-tracing simulations to generate training data. The proposed model combines PointNet to extract spatial features from the point cloud with a Transformer encoder that learns the spatial relationship between transmitter and receiver positions. This allows the model to flexibly capture propagation characteristics influenced by urban structures. Evaluation against ray-tracing ground truth demonstrates the model’s ability to estimate both LOS and NLOS conditions, including the effects of structural obstructions. These results validate the effectiveness of leveraging virtual urban environments for data-driven propagation modeling. |
